What Data We Collect and Why

Comments

When visitors leave comments on our site, we collect the information provided in the comment form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent, to assist in spam detection.

An anonymized version of your email address may be shared with the Gravatar service to check if you have an associated profile. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture becomes publicly visible next to your comment.

Media

If you upload images to our site, avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS), as visitors may extract this information from the images.

Cookies

If you leave a comment, you can opt to save your name, email, and website in cookies for convenience. These cookies will remain active for one year.

When you log in, we use temporary cookies to verify if your browser accepts cookies. These cookies contain no personal data and are removed when you close your browser.

Upon logging in, we use cookies to store login credentials and screen display settings. Login cookies last for two days, while display preferences remain for a year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login remains active for two weeks. Logging out deletes login-related cookies.

When editing or publishing an article, an additional cookie is stored in your browser. It contains no personal data and expires after one day.

Embedded Content

Our website may feature embedded content (videos, images, articles, etc.) from external sources. This content behaves as if you were visiting the original source, which may collect data, use cookies, or track your interactions.

Data Retention

Comments and associated metadata are stored indefinitely to streamline future comment approvals.

For registered users, we retain personal information within user profiles. Users can access, edit, or delete their personal data (except usernames). Administrators also have access to modify user information.

Your Rights Over Your Data

If you have an account or have left comments, you may request an exported file containing your personal data. Additionally, you can request the deletion of your data, except for information retained for legal, security, or administrative purposes.

Where Your Data is Sent

Visitor comments may be analyzed through an automated spam detection system.
